We start this day at Hopovo Monastery, one of the largest monasteries at Fruška Gora. These monasteries used to be a strong cultural and educational center of Serbs. Followed by visiting one of the most beautiful wineries in this area. Enjoy in some quality wine.
Only an hour drive, we will get to Sremska Mitrovica, a hometown of some Roman Emperors (Decius Traian, Constantius II…). It was a capital of the Roman Empire during the Tetrarchy and one of the oldest cities in Eurpope. Present-day town was built on a site of the ancient Sirmium, one of four Roman capitals. We shall visit the Imperial Palace museum, where the most important ancient objects are kept, the remains of the imperial palace. After we will have a walk through the centre of this charming town.
Only few kilometers of driving, we arrive to Zasavica Special Nature Reserve, the former and abondoned riverbed of Sava River. It is characterized by the presence of rare, endemic and relict species of birds, herbs and animals. We will spend the whole afternoon at this wonderful nature surrounding. Take a scenic boat ride along the Reserve and typical lunch from Srem. Great chance to take some of the ducational and recreational actvities. Some of them include wildlife observation, sports, bird-watching, fishing, boat rides, camping, photographing and hiking.
