Short walking tour in the city center - duration 1 hour

This sightseeing walking tour will take you through the very center of the city.  During the tour we will see the Liberty Square, surrounded by the Name of Mary Church, City Hall and the main pedestrian area of Novi Sad – Zmaj Jovina Street, Bishop’s Palace, the Orthodox Church, the Dunavska Street and Dunavski Park.

This sightseeing tour of Novi Sad and the Petrovaradin Fortress will be taken by bus and on foot. During the tour we will see the Liberty Square, surrounded by the Name of Mary Church, City Hall and the main pedestrian area of Novi Sad – Zmaj Jovina Street, Bishop’s Palace, the Orthodox Church, the Dunavska Street and Dunavski Park. We will cross over one of the bridges in the city by bus, to get to Petrovaradin Fortress, also known as “The Gibraltar of the Danube”, one of the best preserved and the second largest fortification in Europe. This is one of the many fortresses on the Danube, where numerous galleries and artists’ studios can be seen.

Start this tour by visiting  small but historic military hospital, one of the oldest in this part of Europe, still located in its original baroque edifice. Walking the alleys of the Lower Town we arrive to the Orthodox church of SS Peter & Paul and the hospital park. Walking through the town high street we will learn about the birth house of Josip Jelačić who came to be Croatian national hero, the seat of the “šajkaši“ river navy and the old building in which the toll for crossing the Danube was charged. Next we arrive to the Roman Catholic church of Saint George with its baroque altar and graves of local nobles, as well as to its cloister. We will climb up the 214 steps to the fortress plateau wherefrom we will descend into its underground where we will spend around 45 minutes discovering its secrets. After enjoying the panorama of Novi Sad below us we will stroll pass the ateliers of local artists. On a nice and peaceful spot we will talk about Petrovaradin’s long history.

Vojvodina is known by its messauges – authentic local farms, popular salaši on Serbian language. We will visit one of the most popular and beautiful messauges in this area, known as the Pannonian oasis that exudes an authentic atmosphere of Vojvodina’s farm. The athmosphere of the farms from the late 19th century has been carefully preserved.  You will notice in every corner of the estate a multitude of decorative items and furniture that were once used. These farms are the real hedonism oasis with delicious slow food.

In the most famous traditional farm restaurant near Novi Sad you can enjoy local food and drink with the Vojvodina ethnic music. Fruška gora
is a mountain nearby Novi Sad, 80 km long and approximately 15 km wide, with its highest hill of 539 m elevation. Fruška gora is proclaimed a National Park in 1960 in order to provide its permanent protection and to improve its natural resources and beauty. It is also know as “Serbian Athos” because of its monasteries which are lasting for centurioes and were built around 16th and 18th century. Fruška gora is rich also by its twelve artificial lakes, many of these lakes are perfect for fishermen, as well as for swimming with small beaches. What makes this mountain so extraordinary are its rich wineyards. Pathways of Fruška gora are also wine trails, so there are numerous households and wine cellars, where visitors can enjoy a glass of high quality wine.

Sremski Karlovci is a small, baroque town on Fruška gora slopes and on a bank of the Danube, located around 10 kilometers from Novi Sad. It is one of the most important cultural and spiritual centers of Serbia. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 18th and 19th cenutry, it was the religious and cultural center of the Serbian nation, and since 1713 it is the seat of Serbian metropolis. This unique and breathtaking tonw is famous for its good wine cellars and high quality wines that have 17th centuries long history. You can not leave this town without winetastings.

Exit Festival is an award-winning summer music festival which is held at the Petrovaradin fortress in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Exit takes place at the magical Petrovaradin fortress, located on the right bank of the river Danube in Novi Sad. The location is unique in the festival world as it is important for the festival’s atmosphere. it’s considered as one of the largest and most beautiful European medieval fortresses. The location also offers superb acoustics, allowing different events, and allows them to take place one next to another at the same time, without any sound interference.

The festival began in 2000 as a student protest against the government. During its existence, Exit has been visited by over two million people from more than 60 countries. CNN, The New York Times, and many others have on numerous occasions proclaimed Exit amongst the Top Ten world festival destinations.

EXIT Festival 2017 will take place 6–9 July 2017. It will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love. Next year, EXIT will mark some of the most important events from 1967 when the revolutionary Peace Movement began and changed the world forever. Besides EXIT Festival, EXIT Summer of Love 2017 will present three more festivals – Sea Star Festival in Croatia on 26-27 May 2017, Revolution Festival in Romania on 2-3 June 2017 and Sea Dance Festival in Montenegro on 13-15 July 2017. Along with EXIT Festival, Sea Dance Festival is a part of a special festival package called EXIT Adventure.

EXIT Summer of Love festivals will present a combination of various live and electronic acts, ranging from famous rock, hip-hop and pop acts to techno, punk, hard-core, reggae, experimental and metal music.
