Day 1
Belgrade (D) (approx. 20 km)
Arrival at Belgrade airport. Transfer to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, you’ll see the most important sites of Belgrade and visit the Temple of St. Sava, the biggest Orthodox temple in the Balkans Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner in a local restaurant, in Skadarlija, the bohemian part of Belgrade. Overnight.
Day 2
Belgrade – Smederevo – Topola – Vrnjci Spa (B, L, D) (approx. 250 km)
After breakfast, sightseeing of Belgrade and visits to the most important cultural and historical marks of Belgrade are organized. Stroll on the Kalemegdan. Sightseeing will finish with the visit to the “House of Flowers”, the resting place of Josip Broz Tito, the lifelong president of former Yugoslavia. Trip to Smederevo. Visiting the well-known fortress, that was once the capital of the Kingdom of Serbia run by the despot Djuradj Brankovic. Continue to Topola, where the royal complex is located on the hill named Oplenac. The complex belongs to the royal family of Karadjordjevic and was built in the 19th century. Here you’ll visit the church and the mausoleum. Lunch in a rural household. Continue to theVrnjci Spa, accommodation in one of the local hotels. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight.
Day 3
Vrnjci Spa – Monastery Zica – Monastery Studenica – Novi Pazar (B, L, D) (approx. 150 km)
After breakfast, visiting Monastery Zica, a principal endowment of King Stefan Prvovencani (1195-1223). After that visiting the most famous Serbian Monastery Studenica, founded by Grand Zhupan (Duke) Stefan Nemanja, at the end of the 12th century. Lunch in the monastery. The journey is continuing to Novi Pazar. Sightseeing of the town with a local guide. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 4
Novi Pazar – Peter’s church – Raška – Jošanička Spa – Blace – Prokuplje – Nis (B, L, D) (approx. 300 km)
Breakfast. Journey to St. Peter’s Church, one of the oldest churches in Serbia. Here, you’ll be welcomed by a church priest who will tell you about the history of the area and the church. Continue to Niš with a short break in Raska, where you’ll visit an authentic house and have lunch with traditional specialties. Continue to Nis through Josanicka Spa, Blace and Prokuplje and you’ll enjoy the beauties of the slopes of the Kopaonik Mountain. Arrival in Niš, accommodation in hotel and dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 5
Niš – Nerezi – Markov – Monastery Andrea Skopskog – Skoplje (B, L, D) (approx. 250 km)
Breakfast. Departure to Macedonia. Visit Monastery Nerezi dedicated to Saint Panteleimon. After that, we’ll take you to the Monastery Andrea Skopskog. Lunch. Arrival to hotel. Accomodation. Free time. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Skoplje.
Day 6
Skoplje (B, D) (approx. 20 km)
After breakfast, sightseeing of Skoplje with a local guide (The Stone Bridge, The Monument of Mother Theresa, The Old Skopje Railway Station, The Museum of the Macedonian icons, The Fortress Kale above the Old Town, The Old Downtown ”Čaršija”, the ”Bit Pazar” Market, The St. Salvation Church and a few mosques). Evening dinner with a music program. Overnight.
Day 7
Skopje – Ohrid (B, D) (approx. 190 km)
After breakfast, the group is going sightseeing in Ohrid, the third town on the UNESCO World Heritage List we’ll visit during the tour. The city is packed with the largest number of churches in the Balkans. There are 365 churches and monasteries in the area, which means one can visit a church a day in the year’s time. Evening dinner with the sound of local music outside the hotel. Overnight in Ohrid.
Day 8
Ohrid – Heraclea – Stobi – Skoplje (B, D) (approx. 250 km)
After breakfast, visiting the ancient remains of Heraclea Lyncestis, from the middle of the 4th century BC. Departure and sightseeing of Stobi, the ancient town of great importance during the Hellenic period. After that, return to Skoplje. Free time. Dinner in national restaurant. Overnight in Skoplje.
Day 9
Skoplje (B) (approx. 20 km)
After breakfast, transfer to the Skopje Airport. The end of the tour. Flight back home.
